Job Summary:

The Assistant Diesel Mechanic will support sales by performing preventive maintenance inspection (PMI), troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding engines on construction equipment for resale or rental to our customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

-Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA Standards/corporate SOPs and perform all work within established safety procedures.

-Perform proficient inspection, diagnosis, and repair of equipment.

-Ensure timely and effective repair of any problems identified during an inspection.

-Estimate time and material costs on repairs and request new parts.

-Advise supervisor if additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed in a timely manner.

-Inspects the quality of 3rd party repairs.

-In the absence of supervision, may provide maintenance supervisory duties.

Required Skills & Experience:

-Past experience repairing the following: small gasoline and diesel engines, portable generators, compressors, water pumps, tamper/compactors, concrete saws, blowers, cement mixers, welders, similar equipment, and a large variety and volume of incoming tools.

-Capable of operating the necessary tools and equipment utilized in the repair of engines and special purpose equipment.

-Aptitude to diagnose defects and damage and assign needed repairs utilizing the most appropriate method(s).

-Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

Qualifications:

-Must be at least 18 years old.

-Posses a valid driver's license with clean driving record.

-Legally eligible to work in the United States.

-Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

-Forklift experience is a plus, however, we will train and certify the right candidate.

-Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen.

-Clean background check for the last 7 years.

-Ability to travel up to 25%.

Work Schedule and Environment:

-7:00am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

-Occasional overtime may be required in response to customer's needs.

-Shop is typical in that it includes processes such as fabrication, repair, welding, painting. The successful candidate will be able to work in this environment.

Salary:

$18 - $20/hour, based on experience.
